The Himalayan Handloom - A Photo Blog

I was travelling in the mountains recently and out of no-where got presented with the opportunity to visit a handloom based textile workspace. I am careful to not call it a factory as almost all work that happens on a handloom is manual and needs human intricacies and detailed concentration.

This particular unit operates as a women's welfare society. It houses about 150 handlooms and a little more women that work there. The workspace operates in quite a remote location of one of the Himalayan villages here in India.

It is a not for profit initiation in collaboration with the Indian Govt. Females in the remotest parts of the mountain regions are trained and provided with a best possible environment to work on a handloom and create extremely fine and detailed traditional textile.

I personally believe for Good Change to manifest people need to be aware of their actions, that is the place to start. Of course, nothing really could be defined as a universal Good however, in our limited human capacity the change that makes lives easier for people around us is definitely without doubt a Positive Change.

We, at REDRAZ INTERNATIONAL work in tandem with the above talked about welfare society. We can fulfill limited volume orders for various types of textile and clothing, traditional or modern and deliver anywhere in the world. We can even even work on special needs for plant based fiber like Hemp or Nettle fibers.

Please drop us a mail on connect@redraz.com for a more detailed conversation.
