It's fascinating how nothing else but change is constant. If you look for it you'll see for yourself and it doesn't take much effort.
Times of India: US demand to lift India’s lab-made diamond exports to $8 billion.
Came across the above linked article by the Times of India. It primarily mentions that the usage of mined diamonds may be replaced by lab grown diamonds, looking at the trends that is.
These lab made diamonds are targeting youngsters as a cheaper alternative to mined diamonds, the properties of both these types of diamonds are same though, chemical and physical. One would need a machine to prove the difference, they write.
According to us it's a 'Good Change' as it can possibly reduce the pressure on the environment due to mining. Mining uses a lot of resources and has bad effects for the environment, we all know that.
We also believe that the value factor will also change for mined diamonds as it's exclusivity will be compromised if the lab made diamonds are accessible and affordable for the common people. However there is also a possibility that this accessiblity may create a rave in fashion therefore in retrospect create a newer market for mined "Natural product" diamonds too amongst the more financially challenged sector. It is a slightly far fetched thought but none the less it is.
It's a Change we would all love to witness over time, it's it?
